Flute, Oboe 11/21/07

Skied with Lee and friends to Flute and Oboe bowls. Found great snow and had excellent weather. Lee lost his ski coming down the groomers. Ironically we were talking about leashes and brakes a short time before this!
Day seven for me so far. It's shaping up to be a good year.
Top of Flute. Great day.
Pit showed excellent stability

The North face of Fitzsimmons. We'll have to let it fill in some more. Are you with me on this one Aaron?

Cloudburst Mt. 11/17/07

Myself and The Sausage King were invited to join Lee Lau and group for a trip up Cloudburst. It turned out to be an unforgetable day of powder and fun times. Bluebird skies, some deep and fluffy pow, and lots of laughs made for a landmark trip.
Check out Pat Mulrooneys professional photos of the same trip here

Sidehilling hell for an hour.

We discovered a giant cock on the summit.

Lee Lau is now a member of The Sausage Club.

This might be mistaken for somewhere in Europe. Where's the hot tub?

View to Garabaldi.

I'm dropping in somewhere...

The North ridge of Cloudburst which we didn't have time to do. Can you spot any sweet lines?

Mt Fissile, Banana Chute

Aaron and I went up to the Russet Lake hut for 3 days in the Whistler backcountry to ski the Banana Chute on Mt. Fissile and area. The walk in is 14km which is long enough for most people and took us about 6 hours. Nick, Ryan and Amanda would join us a day later. It was the first real trip of the year for our group The P.I.G.S. or Powder Involving Gigantic Steepness.

There was no snow until we reached Singing Pass, about 11km in. The weather was both good and bad, mostly bad but snow conditions were surprisingly good.
The Banana Chute is 40-45 degrees in the main part with 50 degree up top. It was a great climb and better ski.
The wind and weather started to play havoc with the ski plans and in the end there were 100km+ winds and dumping huge amounts of snow.
For a mid November trip it had all you could ask for.

First light and up we start.
