Spring lines recon.

Bobby J and I went up to look at some lines to ski,unfortunately it rained, the snow was shit and avy conditions were unstable. So it turned into a winter camping trip instead. Found a cool wind feature/ melt out to set the tent up in. My camera stopped focusing so I don't look too happy here.

Tzil and Cayoosh areas March '10

Spent some days up on Tzil glacier and Cayoosh slopes with Nick, the Rat and Amanda. Perfect weather days, avy conditions so-so.

After being slammed with snow the past while, the crew finally made it up to the hut. As you can see it's well hidden and insulated now...

What I did last summer.

Two years ago I picked up my bass again and decided I wanted to play...after not so much as touching it for 23 years. I got back in the groove and put and ad on Craigslist and formed a band, we played ska, reggae, punk mostly originals. Last summer we did a little tour and it was great fun. Where else can a 46 year old ex punk rocker, dye his hair blond again and get to thump out bass lines, mixing it up with youngsters?
I quit shortly afterwards due to personalities but I have some great memories.

New snow.

December was a big disappointment after such a great November. But now it is snowing again and in fact it dumped so hard on new years day that we had to chain up the truck for 100 km. One of the best days I've ever had. Too bad the video didn't turn out.

12/4/09 Kiras first ski

I took my 4 1/2 year old daughter skiing for the first time today. Four runs down with my help and instruction then she pushed me away and went solo when we were halfway down. No warning no fear. I was very surprised! Then she did four more solo runs, each time faster.

It's been my dream since she was born to see her take her first solo run. My heart still soars when I think of it.

I hope her love for the outdoors and adventure brings us many happy memories together in the future.

Hut drop 11/29/09

Since we have been skiing when we should have been finishing the hut, taking advantage of higher freezing levels, we had to take the last of the materials in by ski. We paid the price when we picked a terrible day to go in due to super heavy and deep snow. In the end we had to drop the materials short of our destination. Oh well next time we'll go in via the winter route and finish things off.
